Description: This bulletin provides the procedure to write the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) during the replacement of the Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Once the VIN has been programmed to the ECM/PCM, it cannot be removed or overwritten.  All vehicles are shipped with the VIN pre-programmed into the ECM/PCM. If either the ECM/PCM needs to be replaced, the VIN must be programmed to the new module.
